Education, Fellowship, and Ministry Programs for Children and Youth

The Church of the Heavenly Rest offers many opportunities for Children and Youth to
participate in Christian Education and Fellowship.

  • Nursery Infants and children up to age 3 are cared for in the Good Shepherd Room from 9 a.m. to 12 Noon.
  • Sunday School is taught from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. each Sunday from mid-September through the end of May for children in PreK through 8th grades.
  • Children’s Chapel, for ages 3 through 2nd grade, simulates the Worship Service and is conducted during the first part of the regular 10:30 am Church Service. Children’s Chapel complements, but does not replace, Sunday School.
  • Music: St. Cecilia’s Choir introduces choir participation to children from PreK through 3rd grades. Heavenly Rest Choristers continues the choir experience for 4th through 12th grades. At Christmas, children of all ages are invited to participate in the renowned Heavenly Rest Christmas Pageant, which re-enacts the story of Jesus’ birth.
  • The Acolyte Program offers the opportunity for children in 3rd through 12th grades to assist the clergy in liturgical rituals during the 10:30 am Worship Service.
  • Youth Group provides fellowship and ministry for those in 6th through 12th grades.
  • Parents are invited to attend the Rector’s Forum from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., hosted by the clergy and covering current Christian topics and Biblical themes.
